Key Milestones

  • 1

Learning local rules and regulations – Utilising online resources and/or information provided by local regulations and licensing. Resources that will help: Local fisheries information sources.

Item 1 of 5

Habits

  • You can't catch a fish when you’re not in the water

    What?

Get in the habit early of throwing yourself at every opportunity to spearfish. No matter what the weather or how tired you are, jump in the water and get involved.

    Why?

The more time underwater you have, the better you'll become. No matter how frustrated you are or what mental state you're in before you jump in, all that disappears as soon as you're underwater.

    Tips?

Find crew with boundless enthusiasm, that will push you to get out of bed or jump in the water when you need that little nudge.

Challenges

  • Safety First

Spearfishing is an inherently dangerous sport. Holding your breath for extended periods of time while exerting a lot of energy can be physically and mentally exhausting. Add a powerful speargun and you have a dangerous mix without taking precautions and approaching the sport in the right way.
